Marbella | Spain edge ahead
Feliciano Lopez and Pablo Correna Busta took Spain to the brink of victory in their Davis Cup World Group first round tie in Marbella with a comprehensive 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Great Britain’s Dominic Inglot and Jamie Murray on Saturday.
Inglot’s serve was broken in the opening game of the match and from then on, the Spanish pair always had control, running out winners in two hours and twenty-eight minutes.
It now falls to Friday’s hero Cameron Norrie to keep Britain’s hopes alive by beating Albert Ramos Vinolas in Sunday’s first reverse singles rubber. If he does, GB’s captain Leon Smith will have to decide whether Liam Broady or Australian Open semi-finalist Kyle Edmund will face Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the quarter finals.
