Acapulco | Konta through, Boulter out

Jo Konta claimed a spot in the last eight in the women’s draw of te Mexican Open in Acapulco after defeating qualifier Varvara Flink of the USA, in straight sets.

Seeded eight, Konta, dominated from the beginning breaking her opponent in the first game before clinching the 6-4 6-1 win in 83-minutes and set up a meeting with the third seed, Donna Vekic for a place in the semi-finals, following the Croatian’s 6-4 7-5 defeat of Christina McHale.

Unfortunately Britain’s No.2 Katie Boulter was forced to retire from her second-round match with Sonya Kenin, the fifth seed from the US, when trailing 6-4 4-1.
