Banja Luka | Rublev eases into last eight

In the Bosnia and Herezegovina ATP 250 event in Banja Luka, the second-seeded Andrey Rublev enjoyed an easy 6-2 6-2 victory over Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas.

Rublev dropped just six points on first serve and never lost serve throughout what proved a comfortable outing for the Russian following his Monte Carlo victory as he improved his successive run of wins to six.

He will face the local wildcard Damir Dzumhur in the quarters following his 6-4 1-6 7-6(2) win over veteran Frenchman Richard Gasquet.

Jiri Lehecka also rolled through to the last eight by defeating Moldovia’s wild card, Radu Albot 6-0 6-2 and Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic advanced past Jordan’s bdullah Shelbayh 6-4 7-6(4).

Novak Djokovic returns to action on Friday against his Serbian countryman Dusan Lajovic who eliminated France’s Grgoire Barrere 6-3 6-0.
