Cincinnati | Edmund wins opener

The British No.1 has made a good start at the Western and Southern Open, the Cincinnati Masters 100, with a solid 6-3 6-2 win over Mackenzie McDonald to reach the second round in what is his 13th win at this level.

Ranked 16, he completed the victory after just 64-minutes to stop a run of three straight losses and he earned it by dominating with his serve dropping just nine points off his first delivery and breaking his American opponent four times from seven chances.

Meanwhile Andy Murray has been given a tough draw which could include a meeting with Roger Federer in the third round, but he has to get past Lucas Pouille, ranked 18, in his opening match today.
