Taylor Fritz won his maiden title on Saturday, beating Sam Querrey 6-3 6-4 in a big-serving contest for th Nature Valley International at Eastbourne, that he sealed with his sixth ace of the match.

I have been thinking about it for a long time. I'm so happy I finally got it. Taylor Fritz

The 21-year-old American, who reached his only other tour final as a wild card ranked No.145 in Memphis in 2016, said he was overjoyed to win his first title. “It’s unbelievable, the feeling still hasn’t fully set in,” said Fritz.
“I have wanted to win a title for so long, ever since making the final in Memphis when I was so young. I have been thinking about it for a long time. I’m so happy I finally got it.”

Querrey was full of praise for his young opponent and sometimes practice partner, saying: “He’s really wanted a title ever since (Memphis). Every young player does.
“It’s probably a little weight off his shoulders to kind of get that first title under his belt. Hopefully he wins a lot more titles down the road. He’s a great player, he’s got a dangerous game, and will hopefully just continue to rise in the rankings and have more results like this.”
