Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina marry in Geneva

Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils tied the knot on Friday in a ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, where the Frenchman resides, having become engaged in April after becoming an item in 2018.

Best day of my life! Elina Svitolina

Monfils popped the question in April and he has posted some images and messages to his fans on social media in recent days as the couple counted down to their marriage.

Images have emerged of their wedding day, with Svitolina wearing a gown by American designer Virgil Abloh’s Off-White bridal collection, and Monfils donning a custom purple Off-White tuxedo in a coordinated lavender theme.

“Best day of my life,” Svitolina wrote on Instagram, as she shared photos of the big day.

The congratulations rolled in from both the WTA and ATP family.

“Yesss!!! Congrats guys,” wrote Caroline Wozniacki.

“LOVE THE LAVENDER,” added Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Simona Halep, Caroline Garcia, Julia Goerges, Nick Kyrgios, Felix Auger-Aliasime, and Alex DeMinaur were among those quick to congratulate the couple.

Monfils teased the wedding throughout the week on social media, capping it off with a photo of ‘Supergirl and Black Panther’, which he captioned with ‘BIG DAY’.

It will be a whirlwind turnaround for the couple, as the couple will continue their celebrations in Tokyo where Svitolina is set to represent Ukraine in both singles and doubles, and Monfils doing the same for France.

The Tokyo Olympics begin in one week on 24 July, with the tennis event set to kick off on July 25th.

Monfils, former World No 6 in the FedEx ATP Rankings, and Svitolina, the WTA Tour’s World No 6, share a joint G.E.M.S. Life Instagram account, named for the combination of their initials: Gael, Elina, Monfils, Svitolina, through which they have given fans an inside look into their relationship via viral videos, hilarious TikToks, and more.

It was there that the couple first shared their big wedding news, after Monfils popped the question back in April.

Although Monfils and Svitolina kept their plans under wraps, the Frenchman couldn’t help but tease fans on Twitter about his ‘big week ahead’.

On Thursday, Monfils and Svitolina made their big announcement in ultimate G.E.M.S. Life fashion: through a series of coordinated Instagram posts from the future bride and groom.

“Last day as my fiancé,” Monfils captioned his post, while the Ukrainian player shared her ‘last post as Miss Svitolina’.

As congratulations have poured in from across the tennis world, Monfils also gave fans a first look at the new Mr and Mrs Monfils, albeit in bobble-head form.

Soon afterward, the real Mr. and Mrs. Monfils made their social media debut.
