Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova sent Czech top seed Maria Bouzkova packing at the Hobart International at the Domain Tennis Centre on Wednesday, while Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina set up a quarter-final contest with Sofia Kenin and Bernarda Pera survived a 3-setter against Laura Siegemund.
Blinkova was a 7-5 6-4 winner over Blinkova and will next meet Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 8 seed, who defeated Spanish qualifier Nuria Parrizas Diaz, 6-2 6-3 in the last match of Day 3.
Kalinina, the 5th seed, moved into the quarter-finals after a grinding contest against Germany’s Tatjana Maria, 4-6 6-3 6-3.
Ranked No 40, Kalinina faces Kenin, a former Australian Open champion, for a spot in the semi-finals, who defeated Belgian qualifier Maryna Zanevska, 6-2 6-3, in the 2nd-round.
Meanwhile, American Bernarda Pera, the No 6 seed, too 3 hours to edge out another German, Laura Siegemund, 6-4 6-7(3) 6-4, to advance to the Last 8 where she will meet Elisabetta Cocciaretto next.
Cocciaretto, ranked 67, easily won the all-Italian encounter with Jasmine Paolini, 6-2 6-1, in the first match of the day.
The last quarter-final is between American qualifier Lauren Davis, who got past Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure, 7-6(1) 6-3, and Wang Xinyu from China, a 7-5 4-6 6-3 winner over another Belgian, Alison Van Uytvanck.

Sofia Kenin (L) saw her way past qualifier Maryna Zavenska to set up a Last 8 meeting with Anhelina Kalinina
