Hong Kong | Fernandez outlasted Siniakova in final.

At the WTA 250 event, Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open final produced a thrilling which saw Leylah Fernandez defeat Katerina Siniakova 3-6 6-4 6-4 for her third career title and first of the season.

“We had a very, very hard past couple of years,” Fernandez said on her first title since Monterrey.

“My family, my parents, my coach, and my performance coach stayed by my side,” Fernandez said. “They motivated me to keep going and the hard work is paying off. Hopefully, we can keep going this way.”

The 21-year-old Canadian broke her Czech opponent five times from the 14 chances she raised.

Siniakova, who was chasing her fifth title in her 9yh career final, also broke five times but dropped her serve at 4-all in the decider which proved fatal.
