The Diario de Mallorca and other Spanish media said the 36-year-old Nadal, who has won a men’s record 22 Grand Slam titles, and his wife, Maria Francisca Perello, who were married in 2019 after dating for many years, were delivered of their first child at a clinic on the island of Mallorca, where they live.
The paper reported: “Both the mum and her baby, born in the 37th week of her pregnancy, are doing well.”
Meanwhile, LaLiga club Real Madrid have sent their best wishes on Twitter to Nadal and Merry on the birth of their first child.
Nadal joins the world of fatherhood two weeks after his emotional farewell to friend and rival Roger Federer, father of a pair of twins, following the Swiss’ last professional match played at the O2 in London.
