Marrakech | Edmund eases through
Kyle Edmund has made a good start to his Marrakech campaign as he attempts to go one better that last year when he me the final of Grand Prix Hassan II tournament in what was his first appearance at an ATP Final.
As the third seed he beat the world number 63, Frenchman Ugo Humbert 6-3 6-2 in 79-minutes, winning 77% of his first serves and 83% of his second deliveries.
The 24-year-old British No.1 now faces another Frenchman, wild card Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a quarter-final place.
World number three Alexander Zverev is top seed and faces Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin in the first round.
Jamie Murray meanwhile, is top seed in the men’s doubles alongside John Peers.
They start their campaign against Denmark’s Frederik Nielsen and the Netherlands’ Matwe Middelkoop.
