Munich | Draper reaches 50 win mark.

Jack Draper bounced back from his opening round loss to Hubert Hurkacz in Monte Carlo last week, with a strong performance to defeat Vit Kopriva 6-1 5-7 6-4 and reach the last 16 of the BMW Open in Munich after rain had forced a three hour delay of the opening matches.

That victory marked his 50th win on the Tour and was his first victory on clay this season.

Seeded six, Draper dominated his rival in the first set which he claimed in just 28-minutes and looked to be in cruise control as he broke and swept into a 2-1 lead in the second.

He failed to convert two chance s for a double break in the fifth game which then marked the turning point for Kopriva’ recovery.

The 26-year-old Czech clawed his way back into the contest to level at 3-3 before converting his first set point on the Draper serve in the 12th game.

With a second round at stake, the start of the decider proved crucial and the pair had their chances as three breaks were shared in the opening three games!

Two of those crucial breaks were Draper’s and he secured another before claiming victory after nearly three hours of play.

Draper faces wild card Rudolf Molleker next after the German defeated the Italian qualifier Francisco Passaro6-4 6-2.
