DEBUTING captain Anne Keothavong has declared IÈm just so proud as she led Great Britain into the World Group 11 playoffs in April by overcoming Croatia 2-1 in Estonia.
Jo Konta and Heather Watson beat Ana Konjuh and Darija Jurak 4-6 6-4 6-3 in a nerve-jangling decider.
It was so tight, everyone was on the edge of their seats
The Brits were both broken in the first three games before losing the opening set.
And Konta suffered an ankle problem which required medical attention in the second set. The third set saw the first four games go against the serve.
Watson had defeated Donna Vekic 6-2 6-4 to put GB in front before British No.1 Konta fell 6-4 6-3 to Konjuh.
Keothavong said: IÈm absolutely ecstatic. It’s been a real emotional rollercoaster, but the way the girls performed and throughout the whole week, I’m just so proud of them.
“It was so tight, everyone was on the edge of their seats. But they fought their hearts out and played with so much passion. I’m so proud of them.”
